Accredited Hand Therapist Chen Li provides personalised hand wound care for simple and complex hand injuries across our Sydney North Shore and Northern Beaches clinic, tailored to your injury, treatment and stage of healing.
With no referral needed, our hand wound treatment service is included for patients who’ve undergone hand surgery or wrist surgery. From dressing changes and wound management to supporting treatment through our splinting and hand therapy exercise programs, we provide care for adults and children with hand and wrist injuries.

Hand Therapists provide wound care for patients following hand or wrist surgery. We clean and redress the wound, replace post-operative plaster backslabs prior to your review with your surgeon, and fabricate custom splints to fit over dressings when required.
Wound Healing & Infection ChecksWe assess patient wounds and clean and redress them as needed while checking for any sign of infection. We will notify your surgeon and GP if we are concerned about infection. |
Wound Care and SplintingYour dressing and splint need to work together. We choose dressings that protect the wound, fit comfortably under your custom splint and allow safe movement where your surgeon has cleared it. |
Post-Surgical Wound CareAfter hand surgery, we follow your surgeon’s instructions for wound care, dressings and custom splinting. |
There are many types of injuries to the hand which may require treatment for wound care. This ranges from deep cuts, burns, tendon or nerve repair to hand or wrist fracture surgery.
Your initial hand therapy appointment starts with an evaluation of your wound and understanding your surgery. This includes dressing changes, custom splinting, and guidance on when you can wet the wound. Follow-up appointments are required to continue wound management until a scar is formed.

Hand Therapy Experts in Sydney provides a wound assessment and dressing management to support wound healing, with hand therapy rehabilitation.
Open hand fractures or wrist fractures may have a wound after surgery that requires redressing by a Hand Therapist. As part of your hand therapy rehab, we also provide splinting and rehabilitation exercises at our North Shore and Northern Beaches clinics to support your recovery.
If you’ve undergone hand surgery or wrist surgery, Hand Therapy Experts provide wound care and rehabilitation in line with your surgeon’s instructions. This may include care assistance following procedures for conditions such as hand fractures, carpal tunnel syndrome, TFCC injury, tendon repairs, nerve repairs, nailbed repairs and other conditions.

We tailor treatment to each patient’s injury. Below is what to expect during your treatment with Hand Therapy Experts.
Many patients come to us from a hand surgeon or GP, but you can also book online with no referral needed. Please bring any scans, reports, your surgeon’s instructions and any WorkCover or third-party claim details.
We evaluate the wound and how your hand is moving and ask for details about your surgery and injury.
We tailor a plan around your injury: your dressing, a splint if needed, hand exercises and when a follow-up appointment is required.
We review your wound as it heals, keep your hand moving where it is safe and liaise with your surgeon and GP. We will also advise you when you can start to get the wound wet.
Once the wound has closed, we commence scar management.
